In 1997, Strates Shows continued its commitment to provide state-of-the-art equipment to fairgoers with the purchase and debut of its latest monster thrill ride, the TopSpin.
Coming directly from Oktoberfest in Munich,
Germany, this world-class ride achieves effects that were previsously held to be
impossible. It sends riders into a swing pattern combined with sensational overhead loops.
Two large masts raise riders 6 stories into the sky, then plummet them downward while
simultaneously whipping them end over end. The ride is capable of reaching a vertical
g-force up to 4.0 g’s.
The TopSpin was an addition that delighted not only fairgoers but fair management as well. It received extraordinary media attention and coverage along the route. Many television stations featured the new thrill ride on their news, newspapers took outstanding photos that made front page positions, and local radio stations were eager to become sponsors.
